Douglas - Basel
Challenge Identified – Solution Delivered
The project in Basel involved the expansion of a Douglas store under challenging conditions during the ongoing construction process. Structural reinforcements required during the foundation work caused a delay of about four weeks, which had a direct impact on the planned interior work.
We took charge of the demolition of the old site, the construction drawings, and all general contractor services, including project and construction management. Working closely with all project stakeholders, we developed a two-track renovation plan to best compensate for the resulting delays. This required flexible adjustments to workflows and close coordination among all parties involved. Through collective coordination, rapid decision-making, and structured construction scheduling, parallel processes were efficiently managed and optimized. This enabled us to drive the work forward in a focused manner despite the challenges.
Despite the delays in the run-up to the opening, the planned goal - opening before Easter - was successfully achieved. The new Douglas store in Basel is now one of the most attractive locations in Switzerland and impresses with its modern, high-quality design. The result reflects the successful collaboration of all those involved and demonstrates how even challenging circumstances can be optimally managed through flexibility, teamwork, and precise coordination.
