Projekt Kraft: Giving children the gift of hearing – A special Christmas gesture

We have had a beloved tradition for years: At Christmas we consciously forego gifts and instead give joy and support. This year we are continuing this tradition and donating to the support association “Taube Kinder lernen hören e.V.” of the Freiburg University Hospital. This association is particularly dear to our hearts because it does important work here in Freiburg – the location of our German branch.

Hope for deaf children
Every day 1-2 deaf children are born in Germany. This is a serious blow of fate for the affected families. But thanks to modern medicine, successful treatment is now possible.

In order to enable the children to hear and thus also speak, electrodes are microsurgically implanted into the inner ear. These so-called cochlear implants not only open up a future with language and sounds for newborn children, but also give adults who become deaf later in life the opportunity to regain their normal life.

With our donation we are supporting the support association in helping as many deaf children as possible at an early stage. Every bit of support helps to give these young people a better future. Many thanks go to Prof. Dr. Laszig and Ms. Frohnwieser, who introduced us to their association, gave us an insight into their work and impressed us during a tour.
